First team keeper Carl Ikeme’s injury meant Daniel Akpeyi started in goal for Nigeria. Kenneth Omeruo shifted across to play at right back in order to accommodate Leon Balogun who partnered Troost-Ekong at centre-back while Braga’s Elderson Echiejile slotted in at left back. Ogenyi Onazi and Oghenekharo Etebo formed the double pivot in midfield, Victor Moses played on the right, Alex Iwobi was on the left, Mikel was in the no. 10 role and Kelechi Iheanacho started up front.

For Algeria, free agent M’bolhig started in goal, Mohamed Ziti, Belkaroui, Mandi and Faouzi Ghoulam
